What is Head of Products & Research (Mobilink Bank)?

This role is responsible for leading the bank’s overall product strategy, innovation, and digital transformation by developing customer-centric banking solutions across retail, corporate, SME, and sustainable finance segments. The incumbent drives market research, product development, regional growth strategies, and ESG-focused initiatives while leveraging data analytics to identify new opportunities and optimize product performance. The position also oversees pricing, budgeting, profitability, and product lifecycle management, ensuring strong financial outcomes and customer value. Additionally, it ensures regulatory compliance, risk management, governance, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver efficient, innovative, and sustainable banking products that support the bank’s strategic objectives.

What Head of Products & Research Does?

  • Formulate and execute a forward-looking product strategy aligned with the Bank’s strategic objectives, growth plans, and evolving market dynamics.
  • Lead the design, development, and enhancement of innovative banking products across retail, corporate, and SME segments, ensuring strong customer value propositions and market relevance.
  • Drive market expansion initiatives by identifying new business opportunities in specialized SME products, low-cost deposits, bancassurance, and other priority segments.
  • Spearhead digital transformation initiatives through the adoption of fintech partnerships, emerging technologies, and innovative digital banking solutions.
  • Develop and implement region-specific product strategies and roadmaps tailored to local economic conditions, customer behaviors, and demographic profiles.
  • Leverage market intelligence, competitive analysis, and data-driven insights to identify high-potential markets for product launches, business growth, and network expansion.
  • Establish and lead sustainable finance initiatives by integrating ESG principles, green finance solutions, climate resilience measures, and innovative insurance offerings into the product portfolio.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research, customer analytics, and performance assessments to enhance product effectiveness and customer experience.
  • Build and manage product innovation frameworks, including testing environments and product laboratories, to support continuous improvement and lifecycle optimization.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with renewable energy companies, green technology firms, environmental agencies, and value-chain stakeholders to drive sustainable business growth.
  • Develop competitive pricing strategies and product positioning frameworks that optimize profitability while maintaining market competitiveness.
  • Oversee product financial performance, including revenue forecasting, budget management, cost optimization, and profitability tracking across the product portfolio.
  • Define, monitor, and report on key product performance indicators through real-time dashboards, analytics tools, and periodic performance reviews, implementing enhancements as required.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Technology, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure seamless product delivery, regulatory adherence, and effective risk mitigation.
  • Establish robust governance structures, standardize product policies and documentation, drive process automation and operational efficiency, and support senior management and Board-level matters related to the Product function.

What are we looking for and what does it take to be the Head of Product & Research?

  • Over 10 years of experience in product development and management. At least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong expertise in retail, digital, and commercial banking products.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Banking, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certification in Product Management, FinTech, ESG, or Digital Banking (preferred).
  • Expertise in product development and management within the banking sector.
  • Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of digital banking and fintech innovations.
  • Experience in change management and transformation initiatives.
  • Strategic planning and execution capabilities.
  • Effective leadership and team management.
