Perseus Mining (Tanzania) Limited(SMLC) is seekinga Gold Room Coordinator.
The Gold Room Coordinator will play a crucial role in the processing operations, ensuring the efficient and safe handling of precious metals. The successful candidate for this position will be reporting to Metallurgical Superintendent.
Position Responsibilities:
Management of Health,Safety, Environment, & Community Relations
- Adhere to company policiesand procedures regardinghealth, safety, environment, health and community.
- Champion a zero-harm safetyculture within all processing operations.
- Ensure processing facilities and practices meet all environmental obligations and permitconditions.
- Lead incident investigations related to processing operations and make sure learnings are captured and transformed into actions.
- Ensure all gold room activities complywith safety and environmental regulations.
Leadership & PeopleManagement
- Provide strong leadership, coaching,and technical guidanceto gold room team.
- Develop team capability throughstructured training programs,mentoring, and performance management, fostering technical growth and knowledge transfer.
- Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure workforce planning meets operational requirements, including succession planning and skills development.
- Promote positiveemployee relations and ensure compliance with workplace policies,codes of conduct, and industrial relations frameworks.
- Encourage workforceengagement through clear communication of goals, expectations, and performance outcomes.
- Uphold a culture of process optimization and continuous improvement within the gold room team.
- Collaborate across functions withoutlosing sight of processing priorities.
- Provide trainingand guidance to operations staff on safe and effectivemetallurgical practices.
- Ability to train and transfer knowledge in alignment with the department training matrix.
Operations
- Assure that metallurgical data is properlyinterpreted and translated into actionable improvements on the plant floor.
- Monitor key metallurgical KPIs and implement corrective actions where performance deviates from plan.
- Support commissioning, ramp-up, and optimization activities to deliver stable and efficient operations.
- Organise the smelting and bullion pick up schedules.
- Report gold room logs and operational data to the metallurgical department.
- Assist in the development of security procedures
- Own and drive the overall processing strategy and keep it alignedwith business objectives and production targets.
- Evaluate and challenge existingprocessing assumptions, continuously seeking better approaches and technologies.
- Partner with the Metallurgical Superintedent to alignmetallurgical findings with processing operations and drive implementation of recommendations.
- Provide technical direction on capital projects tied to processing infrastructure, plant upgrades, and capacity expansions.
- Maintain accuraterecords of gold and silverbullion inventory at all times.
- Keep confidential all refinery information, including schedules, activities, equipment layout, building layout, precious metal information, and passwords.
- Monitor stock levels of gold room reagents and consumables to consistently meet operational requirements.
- Ensure operation, calibration, and maintenance of all gold room equipment are performed with high priority as per schedule.
- Initiate gold room projects to either improve gold/silver recovery, increase equipment reliability or reduce costs.
- Engage with external consultants, technology providers, and industry bodies to keep the company at the forefront of processing practice.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and attributes:
Essential
- Knowledge of Bullion production including smelting and electrowinning.
- Proven experience in metallurgical leadership within a gold processing operation.
- Ability to work unsupervised with a high level of trust workingaround precious metals.
- Strong understanding of processing plant operations and metallurgical performance drivers affecting recovery, throughput, quality, and cost.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership, with sound knowledge of HSE systemsand regulatory compliance.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills,with the abilityto interpret data and drive operational improvements.
- Effective people leadership capability, including coaching, workforce development, and performance management.
- Collaborative approachand ability to work effectively with Processing, Maintenance, Technical Services, and site leadership.

Qualifications and Licences:
- Form VI Education level, Diploma or Technical qualification in Metallurgy, MineralsProcessing, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong practical and technical foundation in mineral processing and metallurgical plant operations, gained through progressive work experience.
- Strong understanding of gold room operations and equipment.
- Minimum of 10 yearsof progressive experience in metallurgical or mineral processing roles, preferably gold processing operations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in gold room supervision role.
Additional Information:
- Prepared to undertake externaltraining to complement the operation.
- Incumbent may be expectedto work outside Normal WorkingHours on occasions.
- Incumbent will from time to time be requiredto travel on company business.
