Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the manager or designate, performs gardening and maintenance of lawns, grounds, flowerbeds, shrubs, parking areas, and sidewalks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
, Training, and Experience
Grade 10 plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Applicator’s Certificate. Valid Class 5 vehicle license.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize work.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Casual Gardner 2 positions are required for lawn maintenance across sites in the South Island. Experience in driving trucks and trailers, operating ride-on lawn mowers, and performing physically demanding work is expected.
