Pet Concierge

This role is the primary point of interaction with our customers, both on the phone and during guest arrival and checkout. The reputation of the Inn as a premier pet resort/spa starts with the service and impression provided by the front desk staff. They represent the Inn to our guests throughout all stages of the pet’s stay, from initial introduction through reservations, arrival, departure, and checkout. They are responsible for smooth and accurate operations, from recordkeeping to the flow of customers and pets through the lobby. This role works with all other team members to fulfill our Mission and Brand Promise: to care for our pet guests with love, compassion, and professionalism, providing a premium experience for pets and their parents.

General Responsibilities

  • Prepare the office, lobby, and lodging area for arriving daycare and boarding
  • Greet customers & arriving pets and document any instructions.
  • Receive payments (cash, check, and credit cards)
  • Perform end-of-day reconciliation.
  • Answer phones & assist customers in making reservations.
  • Assist in the orientation of new customers to the Inn’s services, pricing, and requirements.
  • Schedule all services using reservations management software and established procedures for boarding, daycare, spa, training, and assessments.
  • Print reports as needed for daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate files of pet information, both in software and paper files.
  • Respond to phone messages & email in a timely manner.
  • Contact customers and veterinarians regarding pet vaccinations.
  • Notify the General Manager or Owner when a customer needs to be contacted regarding any pet wellness issue.
  • Assist in delivering pets to suites and store any belongings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of pet whereabouts.
  • Assist in retrieving departing pets and belongings and process their check-out with the customer.
  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning tasks for the lobby, kitchen, bathrooms, office, hallways, and closets.
  • Keep the office neat and supplies stocked.
  • Perform an end-of-day roll call process to check on the status of each pet guest.
  • Prepare pet suites for the next day’s arrivals.
  • Perform office closing procedures.
  • Be on time for your shift. Notify the Office Manager of any absences or delays.
  • Be professional with customers and be compassionate with pets at all times.
  • Be sales-minded in order to support the continued growth and success of the business, using suggestive selling techniques to book daycare, boarding, and promote other services of the Inn.

Reports to: Office Manager

Working Conditions:

  • Up to 8-hour shifts
  • Fluctuating schedule based on season
  • Multi-tasking between calls, emails, in-person interactions, daily tasks, and various projects
  • Responsible for correct instructions that are relayed to the Lodging and Daycare department
  • Limited interaction with pets
  • Lifting pets into enclosures
  • Cleaning up feces, urine, vomit, and potentially blood
  • Potential for having pets’ feces, urine, and vomit on oneself
  • Potential for animal bite and/or scratches

Qualifications & Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience with pet kennels, hotel/spas, veterinary or medical offices is desirable.
  • Should love dogs and cats and be comfortable handling them.
  • Should be proficient with the Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite.

Physical Requirements

Requires typing, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, visual acuity, and may, on occasion, have to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

Starting Pay Range: $14-$17 per hour
