Overview
Founding Veterinarian Jobs in San Diego, CA at Atlas Consultancy Group
Title: Founding Veterinarian
Company: Atlas Consultancy Group
Location: San Diego, CA
Small animal general practice in downtown San Diego hiring a Founding Partner and Lead Veterinarian.
This is a new-build hospital in the Marina District, set within a dense residential and commercial corridor with steady foot traffic and year-round population. The site sits between the Convention Center and I-5, with over a thousand residential units within walking distance. It is designed as a five exam room hospital with separate surgical and dental suites, in-house lab, and a digital workflow built around Easy Vet PIMS. The intention is to run a focused, appointment-based service with time to work cases up properly rather than push volume.
The clinical setup is straightforward general practice with the expectation that the lead vet sets the standard from day one. You will decide how medicine is approached, what cases are kept in-house, and how surgery and dentistry are handled. The build supports routine soft tissue surgery, dental procedures, and full diagnostic workups. The goal is consistency and accountability in how cases move through the hospital rather than relying on referral for routine work.
The team will be built around you. Hiring, training, and day-to-day standards sit with the lead vet alongside a hospital manager who handles operations and finances. The wider group provides back-end support, but clinical decisions stay local. This is a smaller hospital footprint with the expectation of a tight, well-trained team rather than a large rotating staff.
This role is suited to someone who wants ownership of both the medical and business side of a practice. You are not stepping into an established culture. You are setting it.
