Job Description:
DUTIES:
Assist Fisheries DivisionEducationstaff with the operation ofEducationPrograms included in the events of Family Fishing, Outdoor Discovery, EXPOs, and SchrammEducationCenter. Fisheries Management activities including field collection of fish community data and aquatic habitat assessment from reservoirs and lakes. This position will be required to travel independently statewide to accomplish the above duties.EducationProgram duties include delivery of public presentations to adiverseaudience, particularly children, but will include adults and professional and civic organizations.
Fish community sampling techniques include boat electrofishing, trap nets, gill nets and seines. This position will also be expected to assist withequipment maintenance, and other related responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements/ Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:1 year experience OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture. Driver’s license required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:General knowledge of fisheries management techniques and aquatic ecology. Goodcommunicationand public speaking skills; ability to maintain simple records; ability to operate hand and power tools; ability to operate a pickup with trailer as well as a motorboat.
