Role Description The Firefly Facilitator is a full-time, hybrid role based in Ghana, combining on-site engagement at learning centers and partner schools with some work-from-home flexibility. The facilitator leads STEM-focused sessions, workshops, and hands-on activities, guiding learners through structured curricula and project-based learning. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing learning materials, delivering interactive lessons, supporting learners with experiments and coding tasks, and monitoring progress. The role also involves collaborating with other team members to refine teaching content, collecting feedback from participants, and contributing ideas to improve program design. The facilitator maintains a safe, inclusive learning environment, coordinates schedules and logistics, and represents Firefly IO during community outreach activities and events.
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong STEM teaching and facilitation skills, including experience leading workshops, mentoring youth, or supporting project-based learning.
  • Candidates should possess skills in curriculum support and lesson preparation, such as organizing educational content, structuring activities, and adapting materials for different learning levels.
  • Candidates should possess communication and collaboration skills, including clear spoken and written communication, active listening, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and communities.
  • Candidates should possess basic technology and digital literacy skills, including comfort with computers, common educational tools, and online collaboration platforms.
  • Candidates should possess strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to plan sessions, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet program deadlines.
  • Relevant experience in education, youth development, community outreach, or STEM-related fields is beneficial.
  • A diploma or degree in Education, STEM disciplines, Social Sciences, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered education and passion for empowering young people in Ghana is essential.
