BASIC FUNCTION
The Field Support Specialist, reporting to the Clinical Field Research Manager, R&D Milk Quality and Animal Health (MQAH), is responsible for coordinating and executing farm trials for R&D MQAH. They also play an important role in the analysis and interpretation of large data sets pertaining to field trials. Responsibilities include preparing and participating on trainings (internal and external) of DeLaval products and protocols, as well as providing technical support for existing and competitor products to Product Management & Development Unit and market area North America.
Responsibilities
Farm visits for trial execution and monitoring, technical support, and solution development
Plan, design and execute clinical trials for mastitis prevention, cleaning and sanitizing on the dairy farms.
Analyzing and interpreting large data sets as required by group initiative using statistical software
Preparation of protocols and required documentation for planning, executing, and monitoring clinical trials on dairy farms.
Train and provide technical support to the sales force in the market (Solution Support, Advisory Specialists, and Solution Managers) on DeLaval products regarding how they work and how to use them
Preparation of technical newsletters, webinars for continued education, scientific papers, competence handovers (related to clinical trials results), seminars (online and on site) on DeLaval products and scientific information for dairy improvement
Technical support (online and on site) on non-routine claims, customer problems, competitive product comparisons and new technology assessments.
Build a wide network within the industry, investigators and other key stakeholders
Be an active player in the product development and innovation process
Required Skills / Competencies
Strong communicator and active team member
Have the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel (nationally and internationally) up to 50% and work flexible hours
Experience with a variety of software programs useful in office work and statistical packages (SAS, R, MiniTab)
Solid knowledge Microsoft Office 365
Cross-functional team worker
Proactive and independent, self-starter
Work independently, organized, task oriented, detail oriented, and analytical personality
Have farm experience and a reasonable understanding of mastitis, and cleaning of milking systems
Physical demands associated with this position include extensive standing, walking, lifting & carrying heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs), bending over to record field data, lifting and transporting by hand, bags, boxes and drums. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
Experience / Background
B.A./B.S. in Animal/Dairy/Veterinary Science, or agricultural management related field required
Have practical experience in cow physiology, dairy farming and milking systems, preferably 2+ years
Fluent communication in English.
