Job Description

Farm Production Technician – responsible for supporting daily operations, ensuring the health and productivity of the swine herd. This role involves specific tasks tailored to the assigned unit or section and various tasks including feeding, monitoring animal health, maintaining facilities and equipment and assisting with biosecurity measures.

Farm Supervisor – responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of their assigned unit, ensuring the productivity, health and welfare of the swine herd. This role involves supervising farm staff, implementing management practices and maintaining high standards of animal husbandry, biosecurity and animal welfare and assisting with administrative and operational tasks.

Farm Manager – is responsible for supervising, directing and managing the operation of the breeder and nursery farms by creating and implementing systems to achieve the targeted production efficiency and cost of production. Also responsible for ensuring high standards of animal welfare and adherence to biosecurity protocols. This role involves managing farm staff, budgeting, and maintaining facilities and equipment.

Qualifications

Education:

Must be a graduate of any of the following courses: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (licensed) ; Bachelor of Science in Agriculture – Major in Animal Science; Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry; or Agri-related courses

Experience

At least five (5) years supervisory experience in a 2,000 sow or more level swine farm

At least two (2) years exposure in managerial work in a swine farm

Physical Effort

Generally light work that requires little physical effort but may also need physical effort during weighing of pigs and leftover feeds.
