The Farm House Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the farm, farmhouse, agricultural activities, landscaping, livestock, poultry, facilities, staff, and general estate operations. The role requires a hands-on professional capable of managing both agricultural and residential farm operations, ensuring the property, vegetation, animals, equipment, and support staff are maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

1. Farm & Agricultural Operations

  • Manage daily operations of the farm and agricultural areas.
  • Supervise cultivation, planting, irrigation, fertilization, pruning, harvesting, and general crop maintenance.
  • Monitor the health and productivity of vegetables, fruits, plants, trees, and other vegetation.
  • Develop seasonal planting and crop maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure proper use of fertilizers, pesticides, compost, soil treatments, and other agricultural inputs.
  • Monitor irrigation systems, water consumption, pumps, tanks, and related equipment.
  • Maintain proper records of crops, planting schedules, yields, agricultural materials, and farm activities.
  • Identify and address plant diseases, pests, soil issues, and irrigation problems.

2. Livestock & Animal Management

  • Oversee the daily care and management of livestock and farm animals.
  • Ensure appropriate feeding, watering, cleaning, housing, and general welfare of animals.
  • Coordinate with veterinarians regarding vaccinations, medical treatment, breeding, and animal health.
  • Maintain records of animal health, breeding, vaccinations, mortality, and feed consumption.
  • Ensure animal shelters, pens, barns, and related facilities are clean and properly maintained.
  • Monitor animal stock levels and coordinate procurement or breeding requirements.

3. Farmhouse & Estate Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operation and upkeep of the farmhouse and surrounding property.
  • Ensure cleanliness, landscaping, gardens, outdoor areas, pathways, and recreational areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Coordinate housekeeping, cleaning, gardening, maintenance, security, drivers, and other support staff.
  • Ensure timely maintenance of buildings, fences, gates, water systems, electrical systems, pools, generators, and other facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property and identify maintenance or improvement requirements.
  • Ensure the property is prepared for owners, guests, visitors, and special occasions.

4. Staff Management

  • Supervise and allocate duties to farm workers, gardeners, animal handlers, cleaners, drivers, maintenance workers, and other estate staff.
  • Prepare daily and weekly work schedules.
  • Monitor attendance, performance, discipline, productivity, and compliance with assigned duties.
  • Train staff on proper farm practices, animal handling, equipment usage, hygiene, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure sufficient manpower is available for daily operations and seasonal requirements.

5. Equipment & Machinery

  • Oversee the use and maintenance of tractors, agricultural machinery, pumps, irrigation equipment, generators, vehicles, tools, and other farm equipment.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure equipment is used safely and only by trained personnel.
  • Monitor fuel, spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Report major equipment breakdowns and coordinate repairs with approved technicians/vendors.

6. Procurement & Inventory

  • Monitor stock levels of animal feed, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, cleaning materials, tools, spare parts, and other farm requirements.
  • Prepare purchase requests based on operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with Procurement/Administration for sourcing and purchasing.
  • Maintain proper inventory records and minimize wastage.
  • Monitor supplier performance and quality of agricultural and farm-related materials.

7. Budget & Cost Control

  • Assist management in preparing annual and operational budgets for the farm and estate.
  • Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Control expenditure on manpower, feed, fertilizers, irrigation, maintenance, fuel, utilities, and agricultural supplies.
  • Ensure resources are utilized efficiently without compromising quality or animal welfare.

8. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe working practices across the farm and farmhouse.
  • Implement appropriate procedures for handling animals, chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, machinery, and equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of agricultural chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the farm.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Qatar regulations and internal company/property policies.
  • Immediately report accidents, animal health concerns, property damage, or other operational risks to management.

9. Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Maintain records relating to crops, livestock, staff, inventory, maintenance, irrigation, expenses, and farm production.
  • Provide management with updates on operational performance, issues, requirements, and upcoming activities.
  • Develop preventive maintenance and seasonal operational plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all farm activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Farm Management, Horticulture, Animal Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in farm, agricultural estate, private farm, farmhouse, or large estate operations.
  • Previous experience managing a farm with vegetation/crops and livestock or animals is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing farm workers, gardeners, animal handlers, maintenance staff, and domestic/support staff.
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation, landscaping, horticulture, crop cultivation, and general farm maintenance.
  • Practical knowledge of livestock and animal care.
  • Experience with agricultural machinery, pumps, irrigation systems, and farm equipment.
  • GCC/Qatar experience is an advantage.
  • Valid Qatar driving licence is preferred.
