We are currently looking to fill one, part-time position for Farm Assistant/ Farm Hand at our urban farming location in Highland Park, MI. We need candidates that are friendly, motivated, and hard working with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn about planting and growing fresh organic food.
Our goal is to provide fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables for the Highland Park community and beyond. We also have partnered with a few small businesses that buy our products, which enables a larger percentage of our vegetables to travel to other communities.
Items Needed:
Good Work Boots (if possible, waterproof) some days are wet, and areas of the grounds are rugged and uneven.
A hat and shades (optional) We work outdoors 80% of the time.
Dress comfortably, (we provide gloves)
It’s recommended that you don’t wear anything that has a strong scent (body spray, scented deodorant, etc) farms have bugs.
Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver’s License.
We have “video chat” meetings monthly. Currently, we are doing this at the farm.
We require all of our staff to have “direct deposit”. You must have your own bank account, not cash app, Venmo, etc.
We understand emergencies happen. If you can’t make it to work, please give us 24 hour notice (or A.S.A.P.) We still have to operate the farm.
The “WEATHER IS UNPREDICTABLE” and on a farm, most things are based on it. Rain days, threatening weather etc., dictate our operations. This is included in all of our meetings.
