Appalachian Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced or Licensed Veterinary Technician to add to its dedicated team. We are an excellent fit for technicians that enjoy multi-species medicine, and surgery.
The Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. The Technician helps during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order. Technical skills will include, but are not limited to: venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, and monitoring, dental prophy, radiography, administering medications, performing laboratory analysis, and client education. Veterinary Technician’s also communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
Administer medications and vaccines as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Maintain accurate medical records for each animal patient.
Provide proper animal restraint and handling techniques during examinations.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including maintaining aseptic techniques.
Support dental procedures by utilizing dental terminology and assisting with dental cleanings.
Participate in animal husbandry practices to promote overall health and welfare.
Experience
Candidates should have a background in veterinary technology or a related field. . Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal handling, laboratory procedures, and aseptic techniques is essential. A strong commitment to animal welfare and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment are critical for success in this role.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
