Veterinary Client Care Representative / Veterinary Assistant
Church Hill Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Client Care Representative (CCR) / Veterinary Assistant to join our privately owned, small-animal practice in Richmond, VA.
We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, detail-oriented, and enjoys both patient care and client communication. Veterinary experience is required. Our ideal candidate is a positive, team-oriented individual with a passion for veterinary medicine who can confidently move between the front desk and treatment areas.
What You’ll Do
- Obtain patient histories, weights, and vital signs and accurately document them in AVImark
- Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with appointments, treatments, and procedures
- Safely restrain patients for examinations, venipuncture, treatments, and medication administration
- Collect and process blood, urine, fecal, and other laboratory samples
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and assist with radiology
- Operate and maintain IDEXX laboratory equipment
- Fill and prepare prescription medications
- Assist with surgical and dental patient preparation and minor procedures
- Maintain clean, sanitary exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and common areas
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment, surgical instruments, packs, and autoclave
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, check clients in and out, and provide excellent customer service
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding their pets’ care
- Work collaboratively with doctors, technicians, assistants, and other team members
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of veterinary medicine experience required
- Comfortable handling and restraining dogs and cats
- Knowledge of veterinary medical procedures and terminology
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently while also being a strong team player
- AVImark experience preferred, but not required
- Experience with IDEXX laboratory equipment is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
Schedule
- Full-time
- 4-day work week
- 8–10 hour shifts
- Monday–Friday
- No nights or weekends

Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
