Equine Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant
Part-Time | Thursdays & Fridays | 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
A busy, established equine veterinary practice is seeking a reliable, motivated Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis.
This is a hands-on position working directly alongside our veterinarian and with equine patients. The ideal candidate is comfortable and confident around horses, enjoys a fast-paced environment, and is willing to assist with both clinical and light administrative duties.
Schedule
- Thursdays & Fridays, approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Occasional evening farm-call assistance, typically 1–3 hours as needed
- Occasional Saturdays
- Some flexibility is appreciated based on the veterinary schedule and patient needs
Responsibilities
- Assist the veterinarian with examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Safely handle and restrain horses during veterinary care
- Prepare horses, equipment, medications, and treatment areas for procedures
- Assist with digital radiographs/X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
- Scrub and prepare for sterile procedures
- Clean, disinfect, organize, and maintain veterinary equipment and treatment areas
- Assist with patient and procedure preparation and cleanup
- Provide assistance during occasional farm calls
- Perform light office duties, including answering phones and emails
- Check clients in and out and assist with basic client communication
- Help keep the day running efficiently by anticipating the veterinarian’s and team’s needs
Requirements
Previous horse experience is mandatory. This position involves directly working with and handling horses, including during veterinary procedures. Applicants must be comfortable recognizing basic equine behavior and safely handling horses in a professional environment.
Veterinary or equine medical experience is strongly preferred; however, we are willing to provide additional training to the right candidate with a strong horse background.

Compensation
Pay is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with horses, wants hands-on experience in equine veterinary medicine, and is looking for a consistent part-time position with some additional hours available.
