WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO
Provide compassionate care to patients and clients.
Perform nursing care tasks, monitor patients, and assist with treatments.
Triages incoming patients using your understanding of diseases and assessment skills.
Administer medications and understand their effects.
Set up and monitor IV fluids and blood transfusions.
Participate in patient rounds and team care efforts.
Receive training in CPR as a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
Collect samples, perform diagnostic tests, and assist with imaging.
Assist with sedation and anesthesia procedures under supervision.
Perform nursing tasks like catheter placement and oxygen therapy setup.
Work closely with licensed veterinary technicians and other team members.
Veterinary Assistants may also (where permitted):
Manage anesthesia and advanced vascular access.
Perform ultrasonography and other diagnostic procedures.
Contribute to treatment planning and additional roles such as training or leadership.
