What Are We Looking For?
We are seeking a Medical Staff Manager to join our Emergency Department leadership team. In this dynamic and high-impact role, you will provide oversight, mentorship, and operational leadership to a large team of veterinary technicians, assistants, liaisons, and cleaning care team members. You will collaborate with other managers to ensure effective daily operations, staff development, and exceptional patient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Lead and support a 24/7 team across multiple shifts to ensure optimal workflow and productivity.
Manage and coach shift leads, foster professional growth, and address performance concerns.
Serve as a clinical resource and support training and development for all emergency medical support staff.
Coordinate and implement policy changes, protocol updates, and training initiatives.
Conduct staff scheduling, facilitate meetings, and maintain consistent departmental communication.
Partner with Human Resources for recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and performance management.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and mutual respect.
Experience and Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
At least 2 years in a veterinary emergency or specialty hospital strongly preferred.
Veterinary medicine experience and clinical knowledge required.
Preferred Education and Skills:
NYS Licensed Veterinary Technician and/or Bachelor’s degree in Management or Veterinary Technology Management preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and EMR systems such as Instinct, Idexx, Asteris, Cubex.
Strong communication, organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to manage a large team (20+), adapt to change, and lead under pressure.
Schedule:
Sunday through Wednesday, daytime hours
