What You Get To Do
Observe and document the behavior and condition of bottlenose dolphins, including mother/calf pairs and any animals that may be sick, injured, or otherwise compromised.
Maintain detailed, accurate records using electronic and paper-based systems, and ensure timely communication of concerns to the Animal Care team.
Assist in maintaining a secure and clean environment by adhering to all safety guidelines and established procedures.
Monitor animal areas and alert the animal care team promptly to any behavioral changes, environmental issues, or concerns.
Collaborate closely with Animal Training and Veterinary staff to support optimal animal welfare and ensure that any issues are escalated appropriately.
Display excellent teamwork, professionalism, and communication with peers and supervisors.
Support operations during all hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a rotating shift team providing 24/7 coverage.
May be asked to participate in husbandry procedures and learn food preparation.
What It Takes To Succeed
Must have the ability to take feedback and direction from zoological leaders and adeptly follow instruction.
Must have excellent observation, communication, and record-keeping skills.
Comfortable using technology and learning all relevant data entry and record systems.
Must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from an accredited college or university with a major in Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Zoology, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What Else Is Important
Must be available to work 40 hours per week, including overnight shifts.
Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and inclement weather.
May involve standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Cleaning and sanitation tasks are part of the routine.
Flexibility in schedule and location within the park is essential, based on business needs
