Mountain West Veterinary Specialists – Layton is seeking full-time Doctor’s Assistants to join our growing team! We are a fast-paced, independently and locally owned hospital providing advanced specialty and emergency veterinary care.
As a Doctor’s Assistant, you’ll work closely alongside our ICU doctors to deliver exceptional critical care to our hospitalized patients. This position is ideal for someone with prior veterinary experience who is looking for a less physically demanding role while still playing a key part in patient care and client communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide daily updates to clients regarding patient status and treatment plans
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Prepare discharge instructions for ICU patients
Schedule and assist with hospital discharges under doctor guidance
Coordinate with ICU treatment technicians to carry out treatment plans
Prepare and manage samples for submission to external labs
Ensure timely and complete communication with referring veterinarians
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking positive, dependable, and energetic individuals who are passionate about veterinary medicine and teamwork. Previous experience as a veterinary technician is strongly preferred.

Work Schedule:
Team members typically work three 13-hour shifts per week, offering a consistent work-life balance. Due to our 24/7 operations, some weekend and holiday shifts are required. Additionally, there is a requirement to be on-call for two shifts per month, ensuring coverage for unexpected needs.
