Job Description:

As a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Connecticut Veterinary Center, you will play a pivotal role in diagnosing, treating, and caring for animals. Your responsibilities will include:

Conduct thorough medical examinations and diagnostic tests on animals.
Formulate and implement treatment plans for various health conditions.
Perform surgeries and dental procedures when necessary.
Prescribe medications and administer treatments as required.
Provide advice, updates and education to pet owners regarding their animals’ health and care.
Monitor and care for animals before, during, and after surgery.
Record and analyze vital signs and patient behaviors.
Ensure the well-being and comfort of patients.
Establish and maintain professional, compassionate relationships with clients.
Explain diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis to pet owners.
Answer client questions and address concerns effectively.
Gather complete patient history and information from clients.
Collaborate with veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and staff to facilitate efficient teamwork.
Perform specialized medical procedures, based on certification and experience.
Provide in-depth education to pet owners about chronic conditions, nutrition, and preventive care.
Offer guidance on managing pets’ health and well-being.
Contribute to the maintenance of high-quality patient care and safety standards.
Participate in quality control procedures and initiatives.
Maintain professional ethics and high standards of care.
Adhere to all veterinary laws, regulations, and clinic policies.
Contribute to the development and implementation of clinic procedures and protocols.

Be prepared to assist during emergency situations, including trauma cases or critical care.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
State veterinary licensure.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Empathy and compassion for clients and patients.
Proficiency in medical examinations and surgical procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and practices.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, 30 – 40 hours per week Commission based pay

Schedule: Seeking open availability. Commitment of at least 1 weekend shift per week required.
