We are partnered with a leading scientific research organization dedicated to advancing drug discovery and development is seeking a Director of Pathology to provide scientific, strategic, and operational leadership in pathology services. This key leadership role is responsible for directing preclinical and translational pathology efforts across multidisciplinary programs that support internal research initiatives, government contracts, and commercial partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Provide scientific leadership in anatomic and clinical pathology to support drug development, toxicology, and translational research programs.
Oversee the planning, execution, interpretation, and reporting of pathology components of preclinical studies.
Manage a team of pathologists and support staff; provide mentorship and foster career development.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including toxicologists, pharmacologists, and molecular biologists to design studies and interpret complex data.
Serve as a primary subject matter expert for histopathology and biomarker development strategies.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines (e.g., GLP, FDA, OECD) and maintain quality and documentation standards.
Contribute to grant writing, scientific publications, and presentations; support business development activities as needed.
Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and practices in pathology and integrate them into ongoing and future research efforts.
Qualifications
DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree required.
DACVP Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in pathology within a pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, or academic research setting.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing scientific teams and complex research projects.
Strong leadership and proven track record to lead a pathology department.
GLP, FDA, EMA, ICH experience
