Position Overview

WVP is seeking a Director of Business Development to help drive our acquisition and expansion strategy across the Eastern United States. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, this individual will identify, cultivate, and evaluate partnership opportunities with veterinary practice owners while building strong relationships throughout the veterinary community.

This is a highly visible, relationship-driven role that will play a critical part in the company's continued growth. The ideal candidate is an energetic business development professional with strong relationship-building skills, strategic thinking abilities, and a passion for sourcing and developing acquisition opportunities.

Ideally looking for Candidates who reside in Tennessee, Virginia or Maryland and are comfortable with regular travel throughout a Mid-Atlantic focused territory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of assigned markets, including veterinary practices, competitive dynamics, growth opportunities, and emerging industry trends.
  • Build and maintain relationships with veterinary practice owners, industry leaders, veterinary medical associations, brokers, and other professional organizations.
  • Partner with the Business Development Associate team to develop and execute territory-specific outreach and lead generation strategies.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage a robust pipeline of acquisition and partnership opportunities within the assigned region.
  • Conduct outreach efforts through calls, meetings, networking events, conferences, and industry engagements.
  • Represent WVP at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to strengthen brand awareness and expand professional relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of business development activity within CRM systems.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders throughout the acquisition process to ensure a seamless transition from initial engagement through closing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience in a sales or business development role within the veterinary industry, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of and relationships with veterinarian practice owners.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships, developing pipelines, and achieving growth-oriented objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with business owners and industry professionals.
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Highly organized with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, competitive, and results-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
  • Must reside within one hour of a major airport or be willing to relocate within the assigned territory.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The base compensation range for this opportunity is $140,000 – $150,000 annually with uncapped commission potential, targeting an additional $100,000 or more in earnings. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Company offers competitive compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, sick leave, 401(k), and more depending on location.
