We are not a typical veterinary hospital. Albany Cat Clinic prides itself on offering warm, personalized care to cats and their humans. Our team members are Cat Friendly practitioners certified through the FelineVMA. We’re looking for a part-time candidate with the potential to grow into a full-time role if desired.
Duties: Client service
Respond promptly and accurately to client inquiries via phone, email, or in-person.
Follow up on appointments and seamlessly assist clients with details such as prescription refills and referrals.
Handle payments and medical records.
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with clients and their cats.
Duties: Cat care
Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations and procedures by handling cats using Cat Friendly techniques. We are a ‘no-scruffing’ practice.
Maintain all areas of the clinic, as well as instruments and patient care items, in a clean and welcoming state (basically lots of vacuuming, laundry, mopping, and disinfecting of surfaces).
Carry cats to and from their vehicles as needed.
Assist during house call appointments as needed.
Depending on skill level: administer oral or topical medications, or injections such as vaccines.
Qualifications
Must be a nice person.
Must love working with cats and their humans.
Previous experience in high-quality customer service.
Must have excellent spelling, grammar, and critical reading skills in English.
Secretarial skills such as phone etiquette and maintenance of written records.
Because we rely on electronic medical records and data repositories, we need someone who can quickly become adept with various computerized systems.
Prior veterinary experience is a plus, but will consider a strong applicant from a human healthcare background or an applicant with other hands-on animal experience
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
Ability to carry a cat in a carrier (up to 35 lbs) up and down two steps and to/from the client’s vehicle.
Ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.50 – $27.00 per hour
