Wildlife Program Manager – Milwaukee Campus
Salary Range: $50,865.00 – $63,582.00. Full‑time. Management.

How you’ll impact our mission:
The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a full‑time Wildlife Program Manager. The role leads our wildlife work, caring for thousands of orphaned and injured wild animals each year and providing community support on how to co‑exist safely with our wild neighbors. The manager reports to the VP of Operations, is based at our Milwaukee Campus, and works weekend days, holidays, and evenings as needed.

Accountabilities
- Manage the wildlife rehabilitator staff, seasonal interns, and volunteers—oversee staffing, development, and scheduling.
- Develop and execute a strategic operating plan for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center that aligns with organizational goals.
- Communicate the organization’s strategic direction, priorities, values, and key information to the team.
- Create a positive workplace environment and foster relationships across teams that exemplify WHS values.
- Establish and monitor rehabilitation protocols:
- Provide care for thousands of injured, sick, and orphaned wild animals from over 100 species, including threatened and endangered species.
- Ensure compliance with evolving federal, state, and local regulations and reporting requirements.
- Provide community customer service and partnership guidance on human‑wildlife coexistence and safe intervention.
- Stay current on best practices, emerging illnesses, and regulatory changes.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders, community partners, regulatory agencies, veterinary partners, and animal welfare partners.
- Oversee budget management and planning for the team and program.
- Partner with the Marketing and Communication teams to share wildlife work content with the community.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated team‑management experience.
- State of Wisconsin Advanced License in Wildlife Rehabilitation preferably; ability to obtain license within a specified timeline accepted.
- Rehabilitation experience in an urban setting, especially with small mammals and avian species.
- Ability to partner with clients, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
- Alignment with WHS mission and values of compassion, respect, kindness, innovation, professionalism, equity, and positivity.
- Ability to navigate the emotional aspects of animal welfare work.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
