Job Title-Corporate Associate

Key duties and responsibilities.

  1. Preparation and drafting of legal documents such as contracts, mortgages, separation, and legal opinions.
  2. Review, edit, and approve contracts and other legal documents drafted by the team before submission.
  3. Assign tasks to the corporate team, follow up on progress, review their work, and ensure the timely completion of all assignments.
  4. Attend meetings with clients on behalf of the partner or with them on the work related to corporate work.
  5. Attend meetings with the corporate team, follow up on assigned tasks, and provide the partner with updates on the progress of those tasks.
  6. Ensure prompt communication with clients and keep them updated on their work in a timely manner.
  7. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss workload, priorities, and legal updates.
  8. Lead and mentor the corporate team by providing guidance on legal matters, fostering professional growth, and ensuring high-quality work products for them to take over higher responsibilities.
  9. Ensure that you assess your supervisee during the monthly evaluation and submit the completed evaluation to the HR department on time.
  10. Provide legal advice to clients on matters related to corporate issues.
  11. Prepare legal reports and summaries for management.
  12. Building and maintaining strong relationships by providing timely updates per the agreed deadlines, excellent customer service, and demonstrating expertise in corporate matters to enhance client satisfaction.
  13. Ensure the billing of the assignment is done timely and collaborate with the administration department in following up on the payment any billed task should be done according to the allocated hours, and the raised bill per month should not be below the agreed KPI.
  14. Ensure the team under your supervision delivers to the required standard and adheres to company policy and Procedure.
  15. Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LL. B) from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in corporate and commercial law practice.
  • Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents.
  • Experience in client advisory services on corporate legal matters.
  • Prior experience in supervising or leading a legal team will be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Tanzanian corporate laws, labor laws, commercial laws, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance, commercial transactions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong client relationship management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Billing and financial awareness, including time recording and assignment profitability management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
