Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Compounding Technician role located in Lawrence, KS. The Compounding Technician prepares customized medications under the supervision of a pharmacist, following detailed formulas, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements. Daily responsibilities include measuring, mixing, and packaging compounded medications for human and veterinary patients; labeling prescriptions; and documenting all work accurately. The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment, performing equipment calibration and routine maintenance, and managing inventory of ingredients and supplies. The Compounding Technician communicates with pharmacists and team members to clarify prescriptions, prioritize workflow, and ensure timely, safe, and compliant medication preparation.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Compounding and Pharmacy practices, including accurate weighing, measuring, and preparation of customized medications.
- Experience as a Pharmacy Technician with knowledge of prescription processing, labeling, and regulatory and safety standards.
- Laboratory skills such as aseptic technique, equipment operation, cleanliness, and adherence to quality control procedures.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with pharmacists, team members, and other staff in a professional, patient-centered environment.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy and safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, follow written and verbal instructions, and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Previous compounding pharmacy or sterile/non-sterile compounding experience preferred.
- Current or eligible Pharmacy Technician registration or certification in Kansas, in accordance with state requirements.
