Compliance Officer
Suan Capital Ltd is an alternative investment firm currently being established in Zambia, to provide investment opportunities to global investors.
Suan Capital Ltd is looking to hire a highly competent, ethical and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to establish and maintain the firm's compliance and regulatory framework.
Position Summary
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and continuously improving Suan Capital Ltd's compliance management program, ensuring that the firm operates in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, license conditions and internal policies.
The successful candidate will serve as the firm's principal compliance resource and will work closely with senior management and the Board to promote a strong culture of regulatory compliance, ethics, risk management and good corporate governance.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop, implement and maintain the firm's compliance program.
· Monitor compliance with the Securities Act, Securities and Exchange Commission regulations and license conditions.
· Monitor regulatory developments and advise management on changes affecting the firm's operations.
· Coordinate regulatory inspections and examinations.
· Prepare regulatory reports and submissions.
· Serve as the primary liaison with the Securities and Exchange Commission and other relevant regulators.
· Oversee the implementation, monitoring and periodic review of the firm's governance framework.
· Ensure that all policies remain current, effective and aligned with regulatory expectations.
· Develop and deliver annual compliance training programs.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- A professional qualification in compliance, governance, risk management, anti-money laundering or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Membership of a recognised professional body will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and leadership skills.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in compliance, risk, legal, audit or regulatory functions within the financial services sector.
- Experience working with an investment adviser, asset manager, commercial bank, development finance institution, securities firm, pension fund or financial regulator will be highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience implementing AML/CFT compliance programs.
- Experience interacting with regulators is desirable.
