About the Role
Do you thrive in a fast-paced veterinary environment and want to use your leadership skills to help save lives? Alaqua Animal Refuge, a nationally recognized animal sanctuary and rescue organization located on 100 acres in Northwest Florida, is seeking a compassionate and organized Clinic Manager to lead the daily operations of our on-site veterinary clinic.
Our clinic provides medical care for a wide range of animals—dogs, cats, livestock, and exotics—many of whom have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The Clinic Manager is responsible for ensuring the clinic runs efficiently, supporting staff and interns, and that animals receive the highest standard of care.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of the veterinary clinic, ensuring efficiency and quality of care
Manage and schedule veterinary staff, techs, assistants, and interns
Coordinate medical care across departments and with external vets/specialists as needed
Maintain medical inventory, order supplies, and ensure controlled drug compliance
Support animal intake, surgery prep, recovery, and medical recordkeeping
Ensure adherence to safety and sanitation protocols throughout the facility
Collaborate with Alaqua leadership on budgeting, planning, and program improvement
Help foster a positive, professional, and mission-driven culture
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in a veterinary clinic or shelter setting (required)
Prior experience in a lead tech, practice manager, or supervisory role (preferred)
Strong understanding of veterinary protocols, clinic flow, and team management
Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
Compassion for animals and alignment with Alaqua’s mission
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced, occasionally emotionally intense environment
CVT/LVT/RVT credentials a plus, but not required
