Client Care Coordinator & Vet Assistant Jobs in Chicago, IL at Compassionate Veterinary Hospice and In Home Euthanasia
Compassionate Veterinary Hospice is looking for a part-time or full-time Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our hospice/palliative care and euthanasia mobile practice.
We are an in-home veterinary service; most administrative work is done from the practice’s home office, with appointments taking place in pet owners’ homes.
We are looking for a candidate who:
Has a kind, patient, and warm bedside manner
Has a special place in their heart for pets with chronic illnesses and/or those approaching the end of their life
Wants to provide these pets with the best quality of life and care possible
Works exceptionally well at independent tasks, keep well organized records, and works efficiently
Is passionate about and dedicated to learning within the veterinary field, and especially within the hospice and palliative care specialty
Understands that we support our clients through both euthanasia and medically assisted natural death

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
Assist the nurses and doctors with in-home visits
Assist with communication with pet owners
Perform Treatment demonstrations (Ex: Giving SQ fluids)
Perform Confident low-stress animal handling and restraint
Educate our clients in medication administration and other basic medical tasks
Perform basic TPR
Perform Dehydration assessment
Perform oral medication administration, eye & ear medication administration, & SQ fluid & medication administration
Perform basic wound care
Perform nail trims
Prepare bloodwork to be sent out to appropriate lab
Reception/Client Care Responsibilities
Assist Care Coordinators with answering phones and emails;
Take and pass messages on to appropriate staff members, mainly concentrating on the nurse/client correspondence;
Assist with nurse appointment scheduling
Keep appropriate records
Fill prescriptions
Discuss estimates with owners
Provide information for over-the-counter, prescription food, and nutritional products
Maintain compassion, sympathy and professionalism at all times.
Other Requirements
Must provide your own smartphone, in good working condition, with data coverage

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19 – $23 per hour depending upon experience
