Akkodis is seeking a Business Analyst- Animal Health/ Life Science for a 6-month contract role with a client in Kalamazoo, MI-Remote.

Contract: 6 Months contract
Pay Range: $38-$40/hr. (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)
Job Description
Business Analyst, Companion Animal, will be responsible for supporting technology and software development initiatives to address business objectives. Supports the definition of technical requirements, organization and planning of software epics and features, and drives the development teams to deliver on time and in-budget. Works cross-functionally to help define and optimize solutions for all aspects of the Companion Animal portfolio. The role requires flexibility to work in a global and highly matrixed team.
Responsibilities:
The major duties will include but are not limited to:
- Support and coordinate the implementation of new companion animal genetic and predictive algorithmic products and updates to existing products within the production systems globally.
- Support intellectual property transfer from R&D to Production by participating in product development teams, contributing to product optimization proposals and product optimization execution for companion animal health solutions.
- Work with technical teams that support and enhance the companion animal precision portfolio.
- Translate product and business requirements into technical requirements/specifications and coordinate execution with the software teams via backlog grooming, sprint planning, and PI planning processes.
- Support the communication of requirements, expectations and priorities in a manner which optimizes resource usage and minimizes turnaround times.
- Support business processes that ensure key stakeholders have visibility over relevant issues and related progress and status.
- Assist in the definition of application deployment priorities to ensure these reflect current business priorities.
- Support user expectations, requirements, and relationships, including assisting with the renegotiation of customer expectations while balancing with the needs of the business.
- Support the operations team in the use of information technology for companion animal product delivery.
- Participate in cross-functional teams involving Product Management, Operations, R&D, ZTD, Technical Services, Sales, and Marketing, to plan and deliver all aspects of companion animal product launch.
- Support test planning and execution including participating in the development of validation documentation, including validation plans, validation protocols, change control plans, test cases, test scripts, protocols and test plans, risk assessments, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other key milestone deliverables.
- Identify and monitor interdependencies between cross-functional / integrated systems supporting companion animal operations.
- Partnership with QA in implementing and automating quality processes for companion animal portfolio.
- Define / document business system requirements using structured methodologies (process/data modeling/analysis), facilitated user research sessions in partnership with Product Manager and Product Designer. Support the management of programs and associated projects that integrate business processes with technology to achieve operational efficiencies in companion animal services.
- Maintain system-related documentation including technical specifications, user requirements, design specifications, traceability matrixes, risk assessments, and test scripts as required. Collaborate on departmental and systems budgetary activities.
- Assist with the creation of standard operating procedures, training plans and other user documentation. Assist in evaluation and selection of commercial applications and systems to achieve business needs and PAH objectives. Support problem investigation and resolution to assist Customer and Laboratory Operations. Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing cycle times, eliminating redundancies, and increasing throughput. Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the companion animal commercial enterprise infrastructure and Information systems.
- Support the Data and Applications integration, Data standardization/stewardship, and Information Management approach and requirements for companion animal commercial systems.
- Contribute to strategic vision and direction of the companion animal operations systems and help to support the delivery of the strategic objectives.
- Support discussions with internal and external partners/vendors (including veterinary clinics, pet health platforms, and diagnostic partners) to address technology needs related to product development, delivery and data exchange.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related discipline with 2+ years related experience
- Software experience with Life Sciences, Consumer Technology, or Animal Health industries.
- Experience in software development or business analysis.
- Experience defining, analyzing, and documenting requirements.
- Skills in project management, business process analysis, implementation of new business processes, organizational change management in regard to new system deployment, risk management, communication, and issue and conflict management.
- Strong business & technology skills with demonstrated ability to deliver innovative technological customer solutions.
- Development of project plans for programs and projects, including development of task estimates, identification of technical expertise requirements, budget, etc.
- Project management principles and software development life cycle management knowledge.
- Knowledge of Industry and Technology trends and best practices in Data Integration, Application Integration, Information Management, and Business Analytics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
- Proven ability to translate product/business requirements into solutions that map to technology capabilities.
- Must demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate with existing subject matter experts, across many functions, and utilize them as team members.
- Experience with customer-facing platforms for pet owners and veterinary professionals (preferred).
