Position: Buena Vista County – SEASONAL PARK TECHNICIAN (Multiple) – Peterson/Storm Lake, IA
POSITION:
Multiple Seasonal Park Technicians with Buena Vista County Conservation, Peterson, IA.
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD:
Flexible:
May – August. 40 hours per week, Normal hours are Mon.
– Fri., 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. with occasional weekend shifts possible.
SALARY: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour dependent on experience, no benefits, uniform shirts provided. Housing may be available, dependent on department needs.
DESCRIPTION
Will assist with all aspects of development and maintenance of county wildlife areas, parks, trails and campgrounds. This will include but is not limited to: routine area and facility maintenance (mowing, trash removal, restroom cleaning), ecological management of a variety of habitats, tree/shrub removal and planting, and minor construction projects. Helps maintain detailed daily activity records. Includes the operation and maintenance of all agency equipment (mowers, tractor, trucks, chainsaws, trimmers, hand and power tools, etc.).
May be required to occasionally work concessions at bait shops operated by the Board, which includes operating a cash register, stocking shelves, counting back change, and the sale of bait and tackle. May be required to occasionally assist in the Integrated Roadside Vegetation Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License. Prefer education, experience, or interest in natural resource management, wildlife biology, ecology, forestry, agriculture or related field of study.
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to routinely stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, balance, climb and operate all hand and power tools for extended periods of time. Ability to routinely lift up to 50lbs. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work outdoors in extreme hot, cold, rainy and windy weather conditions and be exposed to dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
