Title: Board Member
Company: The Canine Stroke Foundation
Location: Bowling Green, KY
Company Description
The Canine Stroke Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on advancing the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of canine cerebrovascular events. Through curated research, case documentation, and accessible educational resources, the foundation works to connect veterinary professionals and pet owners with practical, evidence-informed information. Founded by veterinary technician Jordan Davis following her dog Finley's stroke diagnosis, the organization is built on the belief that the gap between veterinary science and real-world clinical and home application is closeable with the right infrastructure and collaboration.
The foundation's flagship project, The Finley Initiative, is an upcoming ongoing canine stroke resource hub at caninestroke.org, which will house a peer-reviewed research database, a case studies collection, and supporting tools for both practitioners and pet families. The foundation is currently in its formative phase, with 501(c)(3) status in progress, and is seeking board members to help guide its growth.
Role Description
This is a volunteer board member role with flexible, remote participation. Board members will provide strategic guidance and governance, help shape organizational priorities, and build relationships with key stakeholders across the veterinary, research, and donor communities. Responsibilities include fundraising support, financial oversight, partner and donor outreach, and contributing to the development of initiatives like The Finley Initiative. Board members are expected to actively participate in organizational decision-making, resource planning, and supporting the foundation's long-term goals in canine cerebrovascular research and advocacy.
