Barrier Technician – Cats Jobs in North Rose, NY at Marshall Farms
Description:
Marshall Farms Barrier Technicians are responsible for all aspects of barrier cat production. This includes maintaining a clean, safe and healthy animal environment by cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining the animal housing enclosures. Animal husbandry, along with general maintenance, are part of this position as well.
Essential Tasks of this role:
A. Groups and moves animals as directed in an accurate and expeditious manner using proper handling techniques while noting and reporting/ treating animal morbidity issues.
B. Ensures animals are fed
C. Breeding, Queening, treating, apply tattoos, shipping
D. Maintains appropriate animal records electronically.
E. Wash, sanitize, and rinse pens and animal buildings and incoming supplies using a high- pressure washer and fogger.
F. Ensure that all entry and biosecurity procedures are followed.
G. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Competency Requirements: The individual is capable of ensuring animal welfare and consistently performing essential tasks as well as operating all sanitation equipment in a safe and proper manner, understanding and applying dilution and cleaning procedures as well as following biosecurity protocols.
Leadership Requirements: Individuals will contribute to a productive and professional environment by setting a positive example and demonstrating enthusiasm, diligence, and ethical behavior and by taking responsibility for one’s actions and challenging oneself to continually improve.
Work Conditions: Conditions are often hot and humid, with frequent animal contact. Duties are performed primarily on 1st shift with varying extended hours including weekend work. Must be able to be on a weekend rotation which can include other barrier species tasks as well as SPF Cats tasks.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirement: Work is physically demanding with a requirement to lift animals. Job duties will be performed while wearing personal protective equipment. Position requires operation of pressure washer.
Mental Requirement: The individual is capable of effectively receiving, understanding, and applying written and oral instructions.
Scheduled shift is 7a-3:30p Tue- Sat (after training)
This position is a pay grade an N3 with a pay range of $18.27 – $27.41/hour.
