BACKPACK BROADCAST SPRAYER

Season begins in early August and goes till late September. This is production pay position paid by pack at a rate of $25.00/pack.

Key Responsibilities:

Broadcast treatment of all of the vegetation within a designated area

Wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Maintain the spray pack, keep the nozzle out of the dirt and hoses from catching on branches, sticks etc.

Walk through logged areas while pumping the backpack and waving the wand sufficiently to maintain pressure and achieve good coverage

Follow the direction of the supervisor, crewleader and mixer

Space off flagged boundaries and riparian areas

Waiting for ideal weather conditions

Work areas are assigned by the client over a large geographic region. Frequent travel will be expected

Be an active participant in Spectrum’s safety system, attend tailgate meetings and complete trainings as applicable

Minimum Requirements:

The physical ability to perform highly demanding role

The ability to carry 50+ pounds on your back

The repeated use of pumping arm and the repeated swing of spray arm

Ability to walk rapidly over debris on uneven terrain

Tree planting or other forestry work experience

The ability to work well individually and as part of a team

The ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions

Decision making skills

Map reading skills

Willingness to work, enjoy, and live in a remote setting

Preparation for work in all weather conditions

Commitment till the end of August at a minimum.

A good work ethic, a positive attitude & willingness to contribute

Training and mentorship

Hotel accommodations – kitchenettes are provided where available

Working with Argos in remote/hard to access locations

Experienced Supervisors and Crew Leaders, drivers that are trained in-house through a resource road driver training program overseen by the BC Forest Safety Council. All management and safety sensitive positions are deemed fit for duty through pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

A proactive approach to safety and injury prevention. Spectrum works with Total Physio and has training for injury prevention and on-going injury management, as well as access to virtual appointments with physiotherapists for quick and remote in-season injury assessment and injury management
