What We’re Looking For

  • DVM with Texas license
  • Comfortable performing or being open to learning routine soft tissue surgery (spays, neuters, mass removals, dentals etc.) is required
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply if they have strong surgical skills and are eager to learn
  • Mentorship available from an experienced practice owner with 2 amazing associates committed to helping you grow clinically and professionally

What You’ll Be Doing

At Four Paws, you’ll have the opportunity to practice the kind of medicine you were trained to provide. We encourage thorough diagnostics, thoughtful case workups, and individualized patient care—not rushed appointments or quota medicine.

You’ll:

  • Build lasting relationships with clients and their pets while providing compassionate, high-quality care.
  • Perform routine soft tissue surgeries confidently (spays, neuters, mass removals, cystotomies, amputations, gastropexies, exploratory surgeries, and more as your skills grow).
  • Develop medical workups and treatment plans using in-house diagnostics, digital radiology, ultrasound, and outside specialists when appropriate.
  • Practice excellent anesthesia and pain management with a highly trained support team.
  • Perform dentistry with dental radiographs and comprehensive oral care.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians and assistants who genuinely enjoy helping doctors succeed.
  • Communicate treatment options honestly and educate clients so they can make informed decisions.
  • Continue learning through mentorship, collaboration, CE, and daily case discussions.
  • Help maintain the positive, respectful culture that makes our hospital such a rewarding place to work.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary degree from an accredited institution with valid licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the respective region
  • Proven veterinary experience with a strong foundation in small animal medicine and surgery or desire to learn
  • Proficiency in animal restraint techniques, animal handling skills including dog handling and pet grooming
  • Knowledge of veterinary internal medicine disciplines such as cardiology, oncology, laboratory diagnostics, and critical care
  • Familiarity with anesthesia protocols including general anesthesia management and aseptic technique application
  • Experience in emergency medicine situations requiring quick decision-making and effective treatment strategies
  • Strong understanding of veterinary terminology along with excellent client communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations while maintaining professional ethics at all times
