Important Note: Candidates with experience or training in integrative veterinary medicine, including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, or other holistic treatment modalities, are strongly preferred.
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Associate Veterinarian to join our outpatient companion animal practice. The veterinarian will provide high-quality medical care by diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, performing preventive and surgical procedures, educating pet owners, and collaborating with the veterinary team to ensure exceptional patient care.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations, diagnose illnesses and injuries, and develop individualized treatment plans for companion animals of all ages.
- Provide medical and surgical care, including prescribing medications, administering anesthesia, performing routine surgeries, monitoring patient recovery, and humanely performing euthanasia when appropriate.
- Conduct and interpret diagnostic procedures, including laboratory testing, radiography, hematology, urinalysis, parasitology, and sample collection (blood, urine, feces, and tissue).
- Develop and communicate treatment plans, provide discharge instructions, educate pet owners on preventive healthcare, nutrition, disease management, and zoonotic disease prevention, and conduct follow-up communications.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, treatment documentation, client communications, and invoices using the practice management software.
Qualifications & Experience
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Active and unrestricted Maryland Veterinary License.
- Current Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) Registration.
- Current Federal DEA Registration.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, diagnostic procedures, surgery, anesthesia, preventive care, and companion animal healthcare.
- New graduates are welcome to apply; candidates with prior holistic or integrative veterinary training are preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of clinical veterinary experience with training or experience in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, or other integrative/holistic veterinary modalities.
- Experience in specialty or integrative veterinary care is highly desirable.
- Additional certification or training in acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), Chinese herbal medicine, or other holistic therapies is preferred.
