Role Description The Associate Veterinarian is a full-time, on-site role based at Sagamore Hills Animal Hospital in Sagamore Hills, OH. This team member will perform routine wellness exams, diagnose and treat medical conditions, perform surgical and dental procedures, and provide preventive care for small animals. Daily responsibilities include reviewing patient histories, interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and documenting medical records accurately. The Associate Veterinarian will communicate clearly with pet owners about diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care, while working closely with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient, compassionate service. Additional duties may include participating in hospital protocols, contributing to medical case discussions, and supporting a positive, respectful clinic culture.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and eligibility for Ohio veterinary licensure.
- Clinical skills in small animal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and preventive care, with a commitment to high standards of patient safety and welfare.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results, formulate treatment plans, and maintain accurate, compliant medical records.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for explaining medical conditions, educating clients, and collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff.
- Problem-solving abilities, sound clinical judgment, and capacity to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Interest in ongoing professional development, openness to feedback, and willingness to participate in team meetings and case discussions.
- Comfort with basic practice management technology, scheduling systems, and digital medical record platforms.
- Prior small animal clinical experience (internship, residency, or practice experience) is preferred but newly graduated veterinarians are encouraged to apply.
