Location: Village of Altamont
Indian Ladder Farms (ILF) is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager. This full-time, year-round position ranges between 45-55 hours a week during peak season, and 35-40 hours a week during the slower months. Weekend and evening work will be required depending on the season.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Planting, growing, harvesting, processing and selling apples and some field crops
Scouting, pruning and other orchard responsibilities
Assisting in the management of cider making, wholesaling apples, and Pick-Your-Own
Maintenance of farm equipment and buildings
Ensuring the farm is compliant with federal and state standards for growing and processing food products
Maintaining up to date and detailed farm records
Safety and quality control
Snow plowing
Requirements:
2 to 4-year degree in an agricultural field and/or work experience in related agricultural setting
NYS Pesticide license or willingness to obtain it
Have basic knowledge of farm equipment and farm related processes
Have a valid driver’s license and the ability to transport themselves to and from work
Be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Be able to work individually as well as with a team
Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
Ability to follow instructions with minimal to no supervision
Wage: $20 per hour
