ROLE IMPACT

To provide procurement support for engineering, maintenance, site services, and capital project activities by ensuring the timely sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of goods and services required to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing operations. The role contributes to procurement compliance, supplier performance, cost optimisation, and continuous operational efficiency through effective procurement governance and support. All activities, roles and responsibilities are aligned to the world class (manufacturing) philosophy, principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Administration

  • Create and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Follow up on quotations from approved suppliers.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in supplier onboarding and vendor master maintenance.
  • Support the administration of procurement contracts and supplier agreements.

Operational and Site Services Support

  • Source goods and services required for site operations support.
  • Support Packaging stores by creating purchase orders, orders expediting and supplier liaisons for daily operational requirements.
  • Coordinate procurement requirements for repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure timely procurement of packaging materials.
  • Liaise with end users to understand requirements and delivery expectations.

Capital Projects Procurement Support

  • Support the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for capital projects.
  • Track project purchase orders and supplier delivery schedules.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Project Teams to ensure project procurement milestones are met.

Supplier Management

  • Obtain competitive quotations and conduct price comparisons.
  • Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, service, delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with approved suppliers.
  • Escalate supplier performance concerns when necessary.

Inventory and Cost Management

  • Assist in reducing procurement lead times and supply disruptions.
  • Support initiatives to optimize inventory availability and stock levels.
  • Participate in cost-saving and value-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate procurement records and reporting.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure procurement activities align with delegated authority limits.
  • Maintain procurement documentation and audit trails.
  • Support procurement governance and internal control requirements.
  • Adhere to all company safety, quality, and ethical procurement standards.

Engineering & Maintenance Procurement

  • Source MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating) materials and services.
  • Support procurement of engineering services from approved/qualified contractors.
  • Liaise with Engineering, Maintenance and Project teams to understand technical requirements.
  • Expedite critical maintenance spares and services to minimize production downtime.

Capital Projects Support

  • Assist with obtaining quotations for capital equipment and site support services.
  • Monitor project procurement schedules.
  • Track long-lead items and escalate potential delays.
  • Support capital expenditure purchasing and reporting requirements

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Matric
  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, Logistics Management or Commerce.
  • Engineering-related qualification (advantageous)

Experience

  • 2-5 years procurement or buying experience in a manufacturing, engineering, mining, chemical, energy or industrial environment.
  • Experience in tender and RFQ processes as well as site meetings and supplier evaluations.
  • Understanding of ERP systems, procurement processes and supplier management.
