Position: Archaeological Field Technician (On-Call)

Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is actively seeking On-Call Archaeological Field Technicians in the Central California Area, including Fresno and the Central Valley. Candidates must be within a commutable distance and able to support field work on-site as needed.

Who You Are

You are experienced in archaeological and/or paleontological monitoring, surveys, and documentation, complying with local, state, and federal guidelines. Reside in Central Valley, California, or willing to travel within California, including potential trips to Southern California, Nevada, and Arizona.

You hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in archaeology, anthropology, paleontology, or related fields, with experience using app-based software for field recordation and mapping.

You are familiar with working on active construction sites, completing DPR forms, and have a minimum of six months of field experience or relevant academic experience in Northern California.

You enjoy outdoor work, capable of walking long distances, carrying up to 50 lbs., in various conditions, including strenuous habitats and weather; some nights and weekends may be required.

You possess a valid driver’s license and experience driving off-road, 4WD vehicles.

Support field projects in Northern California as an on-call archaeological technician, performing monitoring, resource identification, communication with construction crews, and maintaining detailed records using electronic tools and GIS.

About Our California Archaeological & Cultural Resources Team

Our team comprises specialists in archaeology, geoarchaeology, tribal consultation, architecture, history, and paleontology, committed to protecting cultural heritage and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration.

Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for fieldwork.

Compensation:
Range from $23.73 to $37.59 USD per hour, based on location and experience.
