High Growth company serving the Biomedical Research community is looking for Animal Care Technicians. This position reports to the Animal Resources Manager and is responsible for the daily care of research animals, including feeding, watering, cage changing, maintaining a clean work environment, and monitoring the overall health of the animals. This role requires a passion for animal welfare, dedication to providing clean living spaces, and flexibility in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform routine animal husbandry (cage change, food/water, health monitoring).

Prepare and submit records, census sheets, room logs, cage cards, and inventories.

Sanitize and decontaminate all areas of the facility.

Follow room entry order and biosafety procedures.

Dispose of waste following appropriate SOPs and waste streams.

Receive, identify, and properly house incoming animal shipments according to SOPs.

Maintain animal racks and support equipment.

Assist with ordering, receipt, and stocking of all supply inventories.

May perform basic animal health treatments with direction from the veterinary staff.

Understand and follow SOPs, safety procedures, and quality assurance guidelines for animal care at all levels of biohazard containment (BSLI and BSLII).

Perform daily animal health surveillance checks and report any abnormal conditions of either the animals or the animal room environment to client, veterinary staff, and direct supervisory staff.

Maintain a daily animal cage census in assigned animal rooms.

Humanely euthanize animals as requested or required

Perform other duties under supervision, as assigned.

Additional Qualifications:

Proficiency in SQ (Subcutaneous) and IP (Intraperitoneal) injections, mouse IV tail injections, isoflurane anesthesia, tumor measurements, and other research study related activities.

This additional qualification expands the skill set required for the role, ensuring that the candidate is capable of performing more specialized tasks related to animal care and research. It emphasizes the importance of technical proficiency and experience in handling various procedures commonly used in biomedical research settings.

Required Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Animal husbandry experience preferred.

Experience in animal care and/or research involving mammals

Manual dexterity, ability to write legibly and ability to operate a computer (Office, Gmail) and telephone.

Ability to perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Ability to understand light to moderately complex SOPs and protocols.

Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs; bend, stoop, climb, and stand for a prolonged periods of time.

Be able to wear full Personal Protective Equipment for several hours per day (face mask, coveralls, gloves)

Work Schedule:

Weekend and holiday work is required in this position; in addition to, extra hours during emergency situations and for study related activities.

Schedules will be: Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour
