Location: Village of Tarrytown
We are looking for an Animal Research Associate to join the Veloci Gene team. This person would manipulate, observe, and care for genetically altered rodents to prepare them for study.
In this role, a typical day may include:
Performing basic tasks vital for the processing of genetically altered rodents such as animal identification by marking, breeding, weaning, and collection of tissue samples for DNA or RNA analysis.
Performing a natural history analysis when requested.
Recording crucial data in the Velocigene Data Management System.
Handling other responsibilities including, but not limited to, the breeding of rodents serving as embryo donors and recipients.
Performing husbandry (cage changing) duties.
Performing additional responsibilities related to the packing and shipping of rodents as well as some basic vivarium tasks such as ordering supplies and general maintenance when needed.

Have strong oral and writtencommunication skills.
To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of an A.A. degree with some biology coursework or a minimum of 2 years of experience working with laboratory animals (preferred). Previous work with the handling of laboratory rodents is preferred. The execution of the above tasks will be guided by the Velocigene Data Management System and by instruction from the Vivarium manager.
Salary Range (hourly):$25.43 – $39.76
