The Town of Slave Lake is looking for an energetic and responsible individual to join our team as an Animal Pound Keeper to assist with caring for pound animals.
EMPLOYEES THAT REPORT DIRECTLY TO THIS POSITION:
None
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clean and disinfect enclosures and outside area by removing feces, soiled bedding and food.
Spread new bedding and clean food bowls.
Washing of floors and enclosures.
Feed animals.
Watch animals and report any unusual behaviour or health concerns.
Take dogs outside for exercising and playtime.
Answer public enquiries.
Contact owners of found pets.
Give attention and affection to animals in the pound.
QUALIFICATIONS /
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Grade 12 education
Valid Class 5 Drivers License
Working with animals / pounded animals is an asset.
Provide a clean RCMP Background Check
Clean Driver’s Abstract
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to handle stressful situations and act professionally under those situations

Occasional moderate lifting of equipment and supplies

May be assigned an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, and evening
