Role Description The Animal Facility Technical Operations Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Philadelphia, PA. This position oversees day-to-day technical operations within animal research facilities, ensuring that equipment, systems, and spaces are functioning safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include coordinating and monitoring animal facility workflows, supervising technical staff, and maintaining compliance with institutional, regulatory, and safety standards. The supervisor collaborates with researchers, veterinary staff, and operations teams to support high-quality animal care and research activities, including scheduling maintenance, troubleshooting operational issues, and optimizing processes. The role also involves documenting procedures, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and supporting training and development for facility personnel.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Technical Operations skills, including oversight of facility systems, equipment, and technical workflows in a research or laboratory environment.
- Candidates should possess effective Supervisory Skills, such as team leadership, performance management, coaching, and staff development.
- Candidates should possess Operations Management skills, including planning, resource coordination, process improvement, and adherence to regulatory and safety requirements.
- Candidates should possess experience related to specialized systems (e.g., Cable Television or other facility technology) and an ability to manage and liaise with technical service providers as needed.
- Candidates should possess a strong focus on Customer Satisfaction, including responsive support for researchers and staff, clear communication, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in animal research facility operations, familiarity with animal welfare regulations, and knowledge of GLP or similar standards.
- Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific, technical, or operations-related field is preferred, or equivalent experience in animal facility or research operations.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site in a multidisciplinary environment, prioritize tasks, and use digital tools for documentation, reporting, and communication.
