Key Responsibilities will include:
Feed, medicate and observe animals to ensure they receive outstanding care; informing supervisors of changes to animal behaviors
Clean and sanitize shelter areas such as cages, kennels, food containers, yard, litter pans, laundry, etc…
Able to exercise, socialize, and help train animals per shelter guidelines
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals to achieve an efficient, healthy, safe and pleasant environment for the animals and public
Providing excellent customer service skills and a friendly demeanor to assist the public with the selection and adoption of a companion animal
Maintain accurate records of animals including feeding, exercise, and behaviors
Familiarization with the Pet Helpers website and ability to effectively communicate the principles, purposes and objectives of the organization
Schedule includes 4 – 10 hour shifts
Full-time or Part-time schedule available (PT must work full days)
Opportunity for a pay increase after 120 days of positive employment for FT employees
Requirements/Skills:
Experience/general knowledge and understanding of animal shelters or veterinary practices preferred
High school diploma (minimum)
Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and walk/stand on your feet throughout a normal workday.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
Able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy, team environment
Ability to utilize time management skills and initiative to solve problems, with minimal supervision or direction
Willing to work flexible hours to include evenings (until 6 p.m.), weekends (one weekend day) and some holidays. After all – the animals need us to care for them every day of the year!
