JOB SUMMARY:

The Ambulatory LVT supports the operations of the Clemson CVM Ambulatory Services. This position ensures the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations, performs licensed veterinary technician duties, and provides operational support to the team of veterinary professionals in the Ambulatory Services area. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

60% – Essential – Technical Support:

Support the daily operations of the ambulatory services area, ensuring efficient workflow and excellent customer service. Accompany the on-duty veterinarian on calls to perform veterinary technician duties, ranging from animal restraint to assisting with medical procedures, including participation in a rotating after-hours schedule. Assist in the clinical education and hands-on training of professional veterinary students, including contributing to orientation, delivering course content, and providing guidance in areas relevant to licensed veterinary technicians.

Assist veterinarians with data entry into the EMR software program, both during and outside of service calls. Maintain inventory and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels for ambulatory services area and communicate with supervisor when inventory is low. Collaborate with the supervisor to manage ambulatory services area operations, including scheduling appointments, responding promptly to client inquiries and emergencies.

20% – Essential – Client Relations:

Collaborate with veterinarians to develop client education programs and outreach initiatives with involvement from professional veterinary students. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing concerns and ensuring their satisfaction with ambulatory services and communicate with supervisor regarding escalating client issues and/or concerns as needed.

20% – Essential – Quality Assurance and Compliance:

Utilize quality assurance measures to maintain high standards of care in the veterinary ambulatory services area and recommend improvements as needed. Implement, monitor, and evaluate protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, promote the safety of veterinarians, students, staff, clients, and animals. Assist supervisor with compliance with regulatory requirements, including licensing, accreditation, and record-keeping.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Bachelor’s Degree – animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Work or educational experience that is directly related to the area of employment may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis, such as an associate’s degree, Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technical degree, or equivalent training and experience.

Experience – 2+ years of directly related experience, such as experience in large animal ambulatory practice and/or experience working with large animals in a farm setting.

Certification – Active SC Licensed Veterinary Technician or eligibility to gain licensure.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Anticipated Hiring Range: $37,200.00 – $50,000.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson’s compensation guidelines.
