PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Agriculture Consultant provides consultancy services to clients in the agriculture and food sector, supporting them in improving sustainability practices and preparing for certification schemes such as Organic, GlobalGAP, Rainforest Alliance, and other sustainability standards. The consultant assists clients in understanding certification requirements, strengthening management systems, and ensuring readiness for external certification audits.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Conducting site visits to collect operational data from client facilities and reviewing documents against relevant standards to provide consultancy services, encompassing:
- Assessing current practices, processes, and compliance status.
- Identifying gaps and developing a certification roadmap.
- Providing guidance on compliance and necessary improvements.
- Assisting in documentation creation and maintenance.
- Delivering training sessions and capacity-building exercises.
- Performing mock assessments to gauge readiness.
- Engaging stakeholders and facilitating communication.
- Monitoring progress and suggesting continuous improvements.
- Supporting positive customer relationships and exploring additional business opportunities through:
- Regular communication and prompt resolution of inquiries.
- Keeping abreast of industry trends and updates.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma, college degree, or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, crop science, agronomy, plant protection, environmental science, biology, or related fields. Relevant practical experience in agriculture may be considered in place of formal education.
- At least 2 years of practical working experience in agriculture production, agricultural supply chains, or fruit/vegetable manufacturing.
- Practical knowledge of agricultural sustainability standards (e.g. Organic, GlobalGAP, Rainforest Alliance) is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of English, particularly for reading standards and preparing reports.
- Good presentation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
