Supreme Canine is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and motivated Weekly Canine Care & Kennel Technician to join our growing team.

This isn’t your average kennel position. You’ll work in a professional dog training environment on a beautiful 11-acre property, helping provide exceptional care, enrichment, and support for dogs while learning alongside an experienced professional trainer and staff.

Whether you’re pursuing a career in dog training, veterinary medicine, animal behavior, or simply want to work with dogs in a professional environment, this position offers valuable hands-on experience and opportunities for growth.

Schedule

Weekday Shift

  • Monday – Friday
  • 1 PM – 7 PM
  • Approximately 30 hours per week

Additional Opportunities

This position can also serve as a ‘floater’, meaning there may be opportunities to cover co-worker shifts when another Kennel Technician is unavailable due to illness, appointments, or vacation.

For individuals who consistently demonstrate exceptional reliability, professionalism, initiative, and strong canine handling skills, this position may provide an opportunity to advance into a full-time weekday Canine Trainer position.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary slightly throughout the day but may include:

  • Feeding and watering dogs
  • Supervising dogs safely throughout the day
  • Cleaning kennel runs, training areas, equipment, and common areas
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment
  • Monitoring dogs for signs of injury, illness, or abnormal behavior
  • Bathing, brushing, and performing basic grooming tasks
  • Cleaning ears and eyes when needed
  • Administering basic non-prescription medications and supplements
  • Taking dogs outside for potty breaks
  • Providing structured exercise and supervised enrichment
  • Assisting with client arrivals and departures
  • Preparing dogs to go home
  • Recording daily care logs and following company protocols

Every day is different. While cleanliness and organization are essential, this position involves much more than cleaning kennels. You’ll help provide exercise, provide enrichment and structure, and quality care that contribute to each dog’s physical and emotional well-being. Some tasks may be focus on ‘area beautification’ with the goal of improving the lives and living conditions of all dogs on the property.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is:

Experienced

Experience working with dogs in a kennel, boarding facility, veterinary clinic, animal shelter, daycare, grooming facility, or similar animal care environment is preferred, but not required for the right candidate.

We’re willing to train someone who demonstrates exceptional reliability, professionalism, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to learn. Previous experience handling dogs is certainly valuable, but character, dependability, and a positive attitude are equally important to us.

Dependable

  • Arrives on time (and stays late when required)
  • Takes initiative and constantly finds work to do
  • Follows established procedures
  • Takes pride in doing quality work

Comfortable Handling Dogs

You should be confident working safely with dogs of all sizes, breeds, personalities, and energy levels while remaining calm, patient, and attentive.

Physically Capable

This is an active position requiring you to:

  • Be on your feet most of the day
  • Walk on uneven terrain
  • Bend, squat, kneel, and lift
  • Lift dogs weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

Team-Oriented

Reliable transportation is required, as punctuality is essential for providing proper care to the dogs entrusted to us.

Compensation

Starting Pay

  • $15.50 per hour

Overtime

  • Paid at 1.5× your hourly rate for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

Performance Reviews

  • Six-month probationary review
  • Annual performance and compensation reviews thereafter
  • Opportunities for raises based on performance, reliability, initiative, and skill development

Work Environment

  • Indoor and outdoor work
  • Climate-controlled kennel building
  • Porta-Potty (restroom)
  • Typically caring for 2–12 dogs at a time
  • Safety equipment provided as necessary
  • Company uniform (scrubs) required
  • Proper footwear required (muck boots or Crocs, or similar, recommended depending on season)
