ABQ Bio ParkEducationDepartment manages a team of volunteers that includes docents, ambassadors, aquarium touchpool, horticulture and garden railroad volunteers, episodic volunteer groups, teen nature guides and teen conservation camp counselors. The ABQ Bio Park and the NM Bio Park Society are seeking an individual for the Volunteer Coordinator position to manage, train, organize and recognize these volunteers. This position is staffed through the New Mexico Bio Park Society and primarily located at the ABQ Bio Park Gardens and Aquarium.
The position will report to the Bio ParkEducationCurator with oversight by the NM Bio Park Society.

Qualifications:
The NM Bio Park Society is seeking adynamic, creative, and motivated individual who is able to manage volunteers in a professional setting and work well as a team player. Two or more years of directly related experience in volunteer management is a plus. Individual selected must pass a security background check.
Responsibilities
Tasks the Bio Park Volunteer Coordinator performs include:
Oversee the volunteer facilitator and seasonal summer program facilitators.
Manage, maintain and/or implement programs related to volunteer management, recruitment,recognitionand continuingeducation.
Recruit, interview and onboard new volunteers including docents, ambassadors, aquarium touch pool, horticulture and garden railroad volunteers, episodic volunteer groups, teen volunteers and special events volunteers.
Maintain clearcommunicationwith volunteers including but not limited to regular meetings, newsletters, emails and volunteer website.
Recruitment of teen volunteers for year-round, summer or episodic volunteer opportunities, includes development of opportunities for volunteering, continuingeducation, and special projects.
Develop partnerships with community groups to expand episodic and seasonal volunteer opportunities.
Help Bio ParkEducationstaff facilitate Bio Park volunteer trainings and maintain programs throughout the year.
Work with Bio ParkEducationand NM Bio Park Society staff to determine and fill on-grounds volunteer needs.
Work withGuest ExperienceAdministrator to help maintain volunteer database and records.
Work with Bio ParkEducationand NM Bio Park Society to develop new and enhance existing onsite and online resources centered on recruiting and training volunteers at the ABQ Bio Park.
Support Bio ParkEducationand NM Bio Park Society at special events, as needed.
Guide and support volunteers and their efforts on behalf of the Bio Park, including identifying appropriate roles, assisting with administrative issues, and working withEducationCoordinators on biological content.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
Tuesday–Saturday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with a one-hour lunch; at least 1–2 weekends and evenings per month are required based on programming; 40 hours per week. When scheduled to work outside of normal hours, the schedule can be adjusted in the same weekly pay period with supervisor approval. In June and July, the work schedule is Monday–Friday to accommodate the teen volunteer program.
